Workshop MarineTT - How Do We Get More Innovation from Research?

19 July 2012

The MarineTT workshop "How do we get more Innovation from Research? Bringing together and learning from pioneering initiatives and novel approaches" will be held in Brussels on 19th July 2012.

MarineTT is an FP7 funded project which aims to increase the uptake of EU funded Marine Research for innovation ( The workshop intends to bring together experts from other initiatives in order to provide a forum for an open exchange on the findings of these projects and to identify common challenges and barriers to innovation.

Participants will explore how the research governance system could be improved in order to increase the likelihood of innovation from research outputs. The following FP7 projects will be represented at the workshop: WaterDiss 2.0, KNEU, Knowledge2Innovation, Liaise, STREAM and PROCEED.

MarineTT recently organised a workshop to explore the Challenges and Solutions to Effective Knowledge Capture and Transfer and identified a number of barriers to innovation which we believe to be common to all research sectors. The aim of the upcoming event is to develop a practical set of recommendations which can potentially be used to overcome barriers to innovation from research through adjustments to the research governance system. The outcomes from both workshops will be used to develop Best Practice Guidelines on Knowledge Transfer.
