CIRCLE-2 Adaptation Inspiration Book
Between 2010 and 2013
For the first time a large survey has been done to collect measures that have been taken to adapt to climate change in Europe. This study which focused in implemented measures only use the adagio: we have to be able to take a photo of it.
22 Case studies of early adaptors in Europe have been collected and visualized in the Adaptation Inspiration Book. It is CIRCLE-2's hope that this book and its inspirational case studies will inspire and teach professionals, policy makers and researchers to initiate their own local adaptation projects or improve current strategies and plans for adapting to climate change.

To show the progress in Europe on adaptation to climate change and to showcase inspirational and daring adaptation projects ERANET CIRCLE-2 works on a bold and visual inspiration book with good practices of implementation of adaptation strategies and projects in Europe.
While most people may have a rough comprehension of climate change, the phrase adaptation often invites only raised eyebrows. What is adaptation? How do you define it and what does it look like?
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) adaptation is the adjustment in natural or human systems in response to actual or expected climatic changes or their effects, which moderates harm or exploits beneficial opportunities. Explicitly and implicitly many measures to adapt to climate change have already been implemented in Europe. The Adaptation Inspiration Book will showcase the most inspirational and daring adaptation projects.
