Considering that the 19th COP have just finished and due to the amount of requests received by the organization to postpone the deadline, the call for abstracts of the 'Adaptation Frontiers Conference' was extended to the 9th December 2013.

The CIRCLE-2 network invites you to submit an abstract to its final conference "Adaptation Frontiers: Conference on European Climate Change Adaptation Research and Practice". The conference aims to share the results of 10 years of European cooperation in climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation research, and to pave the way for the development of new research in support of climate change adaptation in Europe in the next decade.


The participation on this conference is free of charge. However, due to the venue carring capacity, is limited to guests and speakers (trough the abstracts submission - see bellow). Is expecteded that every participant will have a role and will actively contribute to the conference dynamic.

Conference Structure

The conference is organized by CIRCLE-2 network in close collaboration with other key networks on the European Adaptation landscale.

The first two days will focus on knowledge sharing and science-practice interactions between junior and senior researchers, policy-makers, research funders and practitioners. 

The final day of the conference will focus on priorities for national research programmes, Joint Programming Initiatives and Horizon 2020 emanate from salient adaptation policy developments.

- Parallel Sessions

The conference is organized in several parallel sessions that will cover 12 themes (more information below). These sessions will be organized with smaller group of participants that will share their projects and ideas and will try to address specific questions. The parallel sessions of the conference have special conveners - they are being organized by CIRCLE-2 partners together with Joint Programme Initiatives and other European Networks. - Art, Culture & Social Event

The conference will create the necessary space for networking and creative brainstorming. The organizers are committed to bring the Adaptation art & culture to promote creativity among the participants.

There will be several social events during the 3 days conference, one of them will be a "Peddy-paper" that will lead the participants trough Lisbon and its climate history...


Oral presentations

Abstracts for oral presentation must be submitted in English and have a limit of 3 000 characters.The abstracts will be evaluated and selected by the conference Scientific Committee.  Authors can submit a maximum of two abstracts and it will need to be linked in one of the following 12 themes:
