BELSPO-PPS Science Policy is notably in charge of the pluri-annual planning and implementation of research programmes, actions and networks on Belgian or international levels. Fields currently addressed are Space, Micro-organisms, Society and Future, and Sustainable Development, inclusive polar and marine topics. These programmes concern matters of interest of several federal departments and/or come partially under the competence of the Communities and Regions. Research activities supported by the BELSPO-PPS Science Policy develop a permanent knowledge resource within scientific and technical spheres.

The BELSPO-PPS Science Policy coordinates the Belgian participation to the management of European activities with the Belgian Communities and Regions. The BELSPO-PPS Science Policy manages an annual budget of about 517 Million EURO. It is also responsible for 10 Federal Research Institutions. BELSPO-PPS Science Policy is responsible for the implementation and operative management of the programme. It is also involved in the entire cycle of the programme from defining the calls, evaluation and selection procedures of projects, follow-up of the projects and valorization of results.

BELSPO-PPS Science Policy has gained experience in several ERA-Nets like CIRCLE CA and BiodivERsA.
