The World Research and Innovation Congress (WRIC) – Oceans

15-16 October 2014

The World Research and Innovation Congress (WRIC) - Oceans taking place at the Lisbon Oceanarium on 15-16 October. The event will address key issues such as international collaboration, funding for research and supporting research excellence. Bringing together the global scientific marine community, funding agencies, policy makers and other stakeholders, the conference will provide a forum to discuss the key issues facing marine research today.


Day one - Programme

Hear what policy makers, researchers, organisations and funding agencies have to say about global policy, collaboration and research and funding.

Topical sessions will address: 'Strengthening the science-policy interface for ocean sustainability' 'Fisheries - Global vs Europe' 'Clustering for collaboration' 'Funding marine research'


Day two - Programme

You will have the opportunity to hear about and discuss the latest oceans research and innovation projects. Topics will range from conservation, acidification and biodiversity loss to sustainability and innovation through green energy.

Presentations will include: 'Biodiversity loss: what is to be done' 'Marine ecosystems' 'Environmental support for maritime operations' 'Drivers of climate change effects in the oceans' 'Extremophiles and industry'
