Role in CIRCLE-2: Co-leader WPDESIGN and leader Task 2.2



The Environment Agency Austria (EAA) is the specialist institution of the Federal Government and provides expertise on the condition of the environment and environmental changes as well as on measures to avoid or reduce environmental pollution. It plays a key role in the implementation of federal environmental laws, EU directives and regulations, provides expert advice to federal and other institutions, designs and operates national environmental databases and is involved in several cooperation agreements with national and international institutions.

EAA internationalises the research programme provision on behalf of the Ministry for Science and Research (BMWF). It is responsible for the internationalisation of this programme within the European Union Member States. However, final decisions are taken at the level of the ministry, which will be Contributing Partner of CIRCLE-2. The Department of environmental impact assessment and climate change at EAA serves as administrative coordinator of the research programme StartClim.

The Environment Agency Austria has coordinated CIRCLE SSA and the ERA-Net CIRCLE CA, is Work Package leader of IWRM-Net and participates in URBAN-Net.
