The Great Debate on the Battle to Feed a Changing Planet13 July 2012
As part of the Euro Science Open Forum (ESOF), the EU Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE - JPI), together with Teagasc, are organising a "Great Public Debate" on Food Security and Climate Change. The debate will take place in Dublin, Ireland on July 13th on the occasion of the ESOF conference (July 11th-15th). This debate, in accordance with FACCE - JPI goals, aims to raise public and media awareness on one of the most challenging scientific topics of the 21st century: i.e. to simultaneously achieve Food Security and combat Climate Change. It brings together some of the most eminent scientists, science communicators and advocates in the world as key-note speakers and debaters and will use global and interactive audience participation (both from inside and outside the auditorium) through the use of modern media (Skype fee-ins, webcasting, audience participation through texting and twitter.
